Bolivia is a landlocked country on the western side of South America. Although not historically known for coffee, in the last few years it’s begun to focus its agricultural efforts into coffee production, and after a 20 year decline in Bolivia, there’s been a resurgence of interest in specialty coffee. With the help of the internet, the specialty market, and governmental help, coffee production and exportation has steadily grown. Additionally, coffee has been a healthy alternative to coca production. Although not all coca production is as nefarious as it may seem, it’s taxing on the soil and coffee has become a beacon of hope for the coffee growers of Bolivia.
